On the Loss of My Beloved Big Brother

The woman sits in the armchair alone quite regularly now. She takes many of her meals there. She looks at the television as if she can see through it clear to the other side, with the sounds and colors carrying on unnoticed. Maybe she is remembering overseeing some stage of your development, with a sensation that cannot be imagined or described. She attempts to recover herself whenever someone walks into the room.

We speak about you often and in bewilderment still, shaking our heads to complete our sentences; and from somewhere in the viscera, a grunt would come.

Oh my! I was OK until I read the last 8 words (somewhere in the viscera, a grunt would come).

Indeed, sometimes we MUST "grunt" in the absence of words. Some feelings must be validated by the flesh, as if they would not live until the body yielded, rendering whatever physical (re)action.

If this brave, sparse musing of yours was a book, I would have thrown it against the wall, which for me is my highest compliment to an author.

Sorry "K", I’m not about to throw this computer :-).

Yet, I think you understand how I am once again moved by the magic and majesty of your words.

Continue to speak your brothers’ name. And he shall live forever!

All the best!
